SPECIAL AIRPORT SYSTEMS (SAS) PROGRAMME MANAGER, Temporary (Ref 0041)

Providing airport operational IT Systems consultancy for a major airport development project in the UAE,providing systems and domain expertise from project inception through to vendor selection and beyond and working as part of the client’s IT team.
As the SAS Programme Manager you will take responsibility for the following tasks:
- Develop processes for the control and management of the integration project;
- Oversee the interface strategy;
- Support the client through the selection process for the vendor(s) for AODB, Message Broker and Data Warehouse, FIDS and RMS;
- Support the client through the contract negotiations;
- Undertake kickoff meetings with the contracted vendor(s);
- Act as the client representative through the initial stages of project implementation;
- Provide the focal point between the stakeholders and the vendor(s);
- Monitor and report on project process.
Essential Requirements:
- A good engineering degree, probably in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or Electrical/Electronic Engineering or significant industry practical experience;
- System design and development: requirements elucidation, specification preparation, tender preparation and evaluation, control of system development, interface management and test management;
- At least 5 years experience of integrating airport IT systems;
- Ability and desire to live and work in the Middle East.
Desirable:
- Knowledge and awareness of the airport or aviation industry;
- Knowledge and at least 3 years experience of two or more of the following
- Information Systems – FIDS, AODB / DW, Message Brokers, RMS
- Communications Networks – LANs, MANs, WLANs, Telephony, MATV, VHF
- Airport Command & Control/Operations Management Centres
- Airport terminal operations
- Airport airside operations
- Airline operations
- Experience on large scale infrastructure development projects;
- Membership of a recognised engineering or project management professional body;
- Good analytical skills;
- Excellent communication skills.
This is an Opportunity to join our client's growing presence in the Middle East, working as part of a specialist consultancy team, supporting their customers through complete airport development projects. This role will give you the opportunity to exercise your skills and experience in an exciting and challenging environment. Working with both local and expatriate colleagues you will lead the team that is delivering the IT infrastructure for this growing airport.
Initially the post will be for 6- 9 months, however there is an excellent potential to extend this programme through to the systems delivery and handover stages.
